Sporting nearly two-thirds the horsepower of an Indy car, the Lamborghini Diablo was the most powerful PPG Pace Car at the time.

History

Originally black when picked up from the factory in Italy, the Diablo was repainted gold. Interesting note that the roof scoops are no longer present and the front turn signals are different than when the Diablo was painted black, as it came from the factory.

Sporting nearly two-thirds the horsepower of an Indy car, the black Lamborghini Diablo is the most powerful automobile as a PPG pace car. It features a 492 hp, 5.7-liter, quad valve DOHC aluminum V-12 engine developing 428 lb.-ft. at 5,200 rpm. Top speed is 201.9 mph; acceleration from 0-62 mph is 4.09 seconds..

Current Status

Lamborghini requested that the car be returned after its pace car duties had been completed.
